Artist Interview With Scott Plaster

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Scott Plaster From Kernersville, NC.
Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Scott: I was already oil painting at a very young age and have been painting for 30 years. Although I’ve had other “careers,” my calling is art. I was creating as early as I can remember, and even in my other pursuits (teaching, web development, etc.), I find a way to be creative and blend art, music, and the written word; they’re all so powerful and impact our lives so greatly. My birth as a “whimsical artist” was an epiphanous moment that began when I painted my first whimsical animal, the “Cosmic Cow.”
Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Scott: I still remember it vividly. My dad was a teacher and coach but found time to draw these Picasso-esque figures of basketball players, with huge heads and long wavy arms. He raided the teacher supply closet for stacks of manila paper and those tempura paints in the blue jars. He drew and I painted. Maybe this era was when my flair for the “whimsical” was born? It wasn’t long until I graduated from those basic materials and was surrounded by adult-level art supplies. My Christmas mornings were yearnings for new brushes, paints, or canvas instead of the usual boyhood dreams of BB guns or trains.
Artist Interview With Christina Colwell

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Christina Colwell From Murray, Utah.
Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Christina: I have been an artist all my life. I believe children are naturally artistic in how they experience the world. I guess you could say I never grew up.
Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Christina: I remember drawing pictures of birds and trees pre-school. I liked coloring books and paper dolls. I later made my own coloring books and paper dolls. My technical skills may have been lacking but didn’t lack in imagination. My siblings and I invented all kinds of scenarios in all kinds of games of “Let’s pretend…” If you can imagine a thing…you are closer to creating it.
Artist Interview With Lori Ramotar

Our Artist Interview Today Is With Lori Ramotar From Port St. Lucie, Florida
Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Lori: My love affair with art began the first time I held a crayon in my hand. In high school, I began concentrating on painting, and my love for creating grew stronger. If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I was in kindergarten, I would have answered “artist” before you could finish the question.
Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Lori: I am sure my family has plenty of stories on my first creative attempts. A few of my favorites include drawing Noah’s Ark (and as many animals as I could before being caught) on the laundry room wall, making a giant pair of butterfly wings and running around the front yard with them attached to my back, and drawing purposely unflattering portraits of my older sister’s boyfriends.
