Artist Interview With Deborah McLaren

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Deborah McLaren From Transfer, Pennsylvania.

Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Deborah:
All my life.

Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Deborah:
Those memories go back to around age 4, I remember trying to make some kind of art out of what I found in my Dad’s toolbox, and then there’s the mandatory art on walls with crayons, which wasn’t well received. But I remember drawing as far back as I could pick up a pencil or crayon.

Artist Interview With Rob de Vries

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Rob de Vries From Koog aan de Zaan, Noord-Holland, the Netherlands.

Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Rob:
As I child I was always drawing and painting. In my early twenties I started with photography because to me my works on canvas and paper where not as realistic as I wanted them to be. I returned to drawing and painting about ten years ago and worked hard on my level of realism. I had lessons in 17th century painting techniques which I use for my portraits. For the rest I’m self taught.

Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Rob:
Being an Elvis fan since I was ten, my first creative attempts where portraits of him. Some of them are still hanging on the walls of my mothers home.

Artist Interview With Olivia Alexander

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Olivia Alexander From Shellharbour, Australia.

Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Olivia:
I started as a teenager but gave it up for many years. I returned to it 8 years ago and have worked at it every day since then.

Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Olivia:
As a teenager I loved to draw cartoons. My best friend’s Mum encouraged me to draw something ‘real’. It was then I found I could really draw. I still remember the thrill I felt at realizing I had a ‘gift.’
