Artist Interview With Michelle Beaulieu

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Michelle Beaulieu From Worcester, MA.
Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Michelle: I guess really started to consider myself a true artist around my junior year of high school, when I really started becoming interested in art, and could actually see myself pursuing it as a career.
Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Michelle: I was always pretty creative growing up. I always liked to color when I was a little kid and throughout high school I loved to draw (especially portraits). Looking back on alot of my old artwork I have definitely seen myself grow alot.
Whopple: Do you make a living with your art?
Michelle: Right now I’m not, but I’ve been working on starting up a business as a freelance artist, basically just selling my paintings, drawings and photography. I am currently entering my senior year at Anna Maria College where I study Art and Business.
Whopple: How many hours a day do you create?
Michelle: As many as I can. I always have ideas running through my head, so I just like being able to get them out and seeing what I can come up with.
Whopple: How did you pick your creative medium?
Michelle: Well quite frankly, I haven’t. I love experimenting with all different types of mediums. At the moment, my favorite is probably acrylic paint, but I also love photography, pencil drawing, pen & ink, and colored pencil.
Whopple: What are your inspirations?
Michelle: I’m inspired by a lot of things. My biggest inspiration is probably music; I love being in the zone just listening to music while I’m working on a new piece of art. I’m also really inspired by Hinduism and astrology; I’m currently working on a series of paintings of Hindu gods and goddesses; as well as series of drawings of all 12 zodiac signs.
Whopple: How do you recharge when your creativity hits the wall?
Michelle: When I hit a wall, I like to go to the library and browse through art books. I’m a fitness freak, so sometimes going out for a nice long run recharges me. Going out with friends also helps, they definitely inspire alot of my ideas.
Whopple: What was your first job?
Michelle: If I can remember correctly the very first job I ever had was on a horse farm. I helped clean stalls, paint the barn, rake fields, etc. Work is basically all I know, I just wish I could have a real career that I love, as an artist. I’ve also worked in a bookstore, a coffee shop, as a nanny, at an ice cream shop, in a daycare and I currently work at a shoe store and a movie theater.
Whopple: What are your favorite snacks when you are creating?
Michelle: Cereal is definitely one of my favorite foods
Whopple: What gives you hope in the world?
Michelle: I get hope in the world when I see others do good for each other and are peaceful and respectful towards each other. I also get hope from seeing people who come from nothing to something.
Whopple: What do you wish you could do?
Michelle: I wish I could create a comfortable life for myself living off of my artwork. I would also like to be able to help and inspire others.
Whopple: What are your artistic goals?
Michelle: To continue to improve my artwork is my number one goal. I would like to finish my Hindu and zodiac series as well as getting my artwork into galleries and selling it. It would be awesome for people to know who I am through my artwork.
Whopple: What has been your most exciting moment as an artist?
Michelle: I’m most excited when I get feedback from other people. I think it is more exciting to have people tell me that they are moved by my artwork or can relate to it more than making money off of it.

I like the one that has a one American dollar with a trinity I think. I like the color she used and it really looks real. I also like the one that has an elephant head with so many hands.. amazing combination of colors. Thanks to your post and great job.
