Artist Interview With John Nolan

Today’s Artist Interview Is With John Nolan From Dublin City, Ireland
Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
John: My parents told me I could draw and paint before I could walk or talk.I have been working professionally as an artist for 30 years.
Whopple: Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
John: Every day I attempt to be creative. There is not a once off isolated period when I first tried to be creative , it is an ongoing process which I dont understand, but continue to follow and hopefully some day I just might find what I am looking for.
Whopple: Do you make a living with your art?
John: Like most artists I make art and sometimes I make a living from it. It has become a vocation , the process of creating is a continuum regardless of monetary gain. In order to pay bills I give art classes in my studio.
Whopple: How many hours a day do you create?
John: I find the process very demanding, I never switch off, my muses never seem to need sleep.
Whopple: How did you pick your creative medium?
John: I chose acrylics because of their versatility. They dry quickly which suits my method of painting.
Whopple: What are your inspirations?
John: My inspirations are numerous and continuous. I am open to many influences. Other artists inspire me, museums inspire me, music inspires me, color inspires me, the history of art inspires me,the list is endless.
Whopple: How do you recharge when your creativity hits the wall?
John: Normally I stop painting and start teaching. I find a break from painting is an essential part of being creative. Quiteness and stillness produce deep creativity.
Whopple: What was your first job?
John: My first job was as a trainee accountant – it didnt last long …..
Whopple: What are your favorite snacks when you are creating?
John: A cup of tea with a cheese sandwich !
Whopple: What gives you hope in the world?
John: The fact that I know a lot of genuine people who are making their little space in the world a better place for the future.
Whopple: What do you wish you could do?
John: Bring happiness to as many people as possible in the world through my paintings.
Whopple: What are your artistic goals?
John: Just to continue painting for as many years as is possible.
Whopple: What has been your most exciting moment as an artist?
John: Every time I finish a painting !

Interesting work.. i like the influences in his work it seems like sort of a crossover from van gogh en some modern day graffiti. But my art history is not very good since i dropped out of school
so there will probably be a better term for it

Wonderful artist, creative mind, casual dress and loving family. I saw 2 pieces in Ireland before coming back to Arizona, USA and browsing the website. Failure to make the purchase back then…., ahhh "another one that got away", yet plenty of time to watch this artist evolve. New and creative work springs forth every year. It's a pleasure to see
Hello! Is wonderful … I find the pictures and the artist simply wonderful and great.
Thank you for the very inspiring post. I’m also a painter and I find John’s story inspiring. I can totally relate with him. His paintings are unique and the color is so vibrant. I hope I can get my hands in one of his paintings someday, he had become my inspiration. Thanks again.
Once again, thank you for the high quality submission!
