I started by taking abstract photos of my high school friends.

Whopple:  Do you make a living with your art?
Jeromy:
Thankfully yes I do and have been for the past 11 years.  That work has consisted of advertising work, editorial, product, food, lifestyle and architecture, fashion and portraiture. I consider myself fortunate to have such a love for the art of photography that I can apply it to different subject matter.

Whopple:  How many hours a day do you create?
Jeromy:
10-15 hours although I feel my creative brain is always in “on” mode.

Whopple:  How did you pick your creative medium?
Jeromy:
When I was a kid, my father had a Canon camera that I wasn’t allowed to touch.  From the moment he told me that, I was so intrigued that all I wanted to do was use that camera so I would sneak into his room just to look at it.  One day while our family was out looking for a Christmas tree, my father asked me to take a photo of the family.  From that first click, I was hooked.

I get out of the studio and go meet people by connecting with the community.  People inspire me and I love collaborative creativity.

Whopple:  What was your first job?
Jeromy:
My first paid job was for our local newspaper the “Dead Mountain Echo” where I photographed our High School’s Sporting Events.  They paid me $5 per photo which was great money for a 13 year old.

Whopple:  What are your favorite snacks when you are creating?
Jeromy:
Pizza.  It’s my reward.  My favorite “feel good” food.

Whopple:  What gives you hope in the world?
Jeromy:
When photographers I admire and respect appreciate my art.  The confirmation that what I’m doing resonates with people, especially those whose talent I admire.  I also love to see that their are people that love creating art for the sake of doing it.

Whopple:  What do you wish you could do?
Jeromy:
Take a year off and have a budget to do nothing but create artwork.  I’ve had ideas for years that I’ve yet to explore as well as I’d like to see just what I could create without any restrictions.

Whopple:  What are your artistic goals?
Jeromy:
I’d love to travel the world and create art by exploring other cultures.  To live, absorb the culture and see how it influences my photography.  I’ve also lent my creative eye to other projects including creating and filming a TV pilot and would love to continue to pursue other creative ventures.  That said, photography will always be my first love.

Whopple:  What has been your most exciting moment as an artist?
Jeromy:
Seeing my first book published.  For me, it was the realization that I am a talented photographer who not only can make a living creating art, but that I continue to work on my journey of being able to do it on even grander scales.
