Artist Interview With Cathy Locke

Today’s Artist Interview Is With Cathy Locke From California.

Whopple: How long have you been an artist?
Cathy:  20 yrs

Whopple:  Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.
Cathy:  Drew a life sized mural on the walls of my parents apartment building, including all the hall ways, stair cases and entry – using crayons.



 

 

Whopple:  Do you make a living with your art?
Cathy: Some times

Whopple: How many hours a day do you create?
Cathy:  Six

Whopple: How did you pick your creative medium?
Cathy:  Over time. I started with pastels but wanted to do more with them. I just found oils provide for a lot of experimentation.

Whopple: What are your inspirations?
Cathy:  I am inspired by a lot of things because everything has energy.

Whopple:  What is your favorite art related book?
Cathy:  1. Hamid Savkuev

Khamid Savkuev is a contemporary artist whose talent is universal. He works successfully across different media drawing on the spiritual wealth of various epochs and cultures. But his vision of real life always correlates with the ancient traditions of his own nation.

Whopple:  How do you recharge when your creativity hits the wall?
Cathy: Do other things. I in the process of writing a book on the art in Russia. I hang with my dogs. I live on a Ranch so there is an abundance of things to keep one busy. I have over 100 roses that need my attention at all times.


Whopple: What was your first job?
Cathy:  Scooping ice cream

Whopple: What are your favorite snacks?
Cathy:  Chocolate

Whopple: What gives you hope in the world?
Cathy:  Art. I think art translates across all political boundaries.

Cathy:  Finish the body of work I am working on = The Magic Series

Whopple: What has been your most exciting moment as an artist?
Cathy:  When I finish a painting and I am happy with it. When I have done something different and it has been successful. When I have pushed myself and it has lead me to something new.
